Our First Month in Business

Today is exactly one month since we launched our first product: extra slim kids jeans. I can't help but reflect on our journey.

Pants for Peanuts - Motivational QuoteLast summer, I hung a saying in my office as a reminder to myself. When you feel like quitting think about why you started. There have been times I've questioned "is this worth it?". Starting a fashion business without a fashion background has proven more challenging than I ever could have imagined.

But I am a firm believer if you trust your gut and follow your passion, things will work out.

Support Groups for Failure to Thrive (FTT) and Small for Gestational Age (SGA).When my daughter was 7 months old she was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive (FTT). After years of testing she was given a Small for Gestational Age (SGA) diagnosis. That led me to seek support on Facebook and join communities of parents like myself. Time and time again, I would see parents asking where to buy pants for their child. I knew I was not alone in this struggle. I wanted to do something to help.

Extra Skinny Boys and Girls Measurements

First, I reached out to those groups and asked parents to send their child's measurements to me. To my surprise, parents were very willing to help. An incredibly generous mom and pattern maker offered to make my first pattern. Without her help and guidance, I never would have succeeded. I am forever grateful to her.

Size Navy - Newborn Waist with a 12 month length
After getting the pattern perfected, my next challenge was scaling the sizes. We shipped samples all over the country to our wonderful fit model volunteers. We learned we needed to make more edits to the pattern and test the fit again. Then finally production. This entire journey took three years to complete.

Today, one month after launch,  I can tell you — those three years were worth it.

Children's Growth Awareness Week Segment with The MAGIC FoundationLast week, I was able to help raise awareness for Children's Growth Awareness Week with The MAGIC Foundation on our local news. If you would have told me three years ago, I'd be on TV, I would have laughed at you. This is so out of my comfort zone.

But today confirmed my why — my passion

Teal B Customer - Size 6 Waist with a 10/12 LengthSomeone local saw our segment. She ordered my largest size, Teal B (a 6 year waist with a 10/12 length). Today, I got to meet her in person. Her mom and I exchanged stories, even teared up a bit. I'm sure I could do the same with every single one of my customers.

Even if we never meet or get to exchange stories, know that your story is my reason. I'm just a mom who wants to make a small difference.

💚💙 Natalie
